Pleasure Practice Workshop
Dedicate time to become more connected to your pleasures
Disconnected from our pleasures?
Historically and still today, women, femmes, and folks who are comfortable in women-only spaces are often socialized to suppress their pleasure and minimize their feelings. We are told by society that we can’t be too emotional or else we’ll be labeled as “hysterical.” We can’t enjoy sex too much or else we’ll be slut-shamed, but also we should know how to please our partners right away without any prior education. We are told that pain is “just part of being,” and it continues to be minimized even when we seek help for it. We are told that we have to do it all, as long as we remain in the confines of prioritizing our families and our homes. Yes, it’s 2022, and these messages still persist. Add on carrying multiple marginalized identities, and these messages only get louder and more dangerous.
This can create a disconnect between the mind and the body that can influence how we move about our days and how we relate to others. It can affect our mental and physical health, and can truly change the cells that make up our bodies. It can prevent us from moving through healing, keeping us in a stalemate with life’s traumas.
We can shift this.
While society at large and the systems of oppression play a major role in creating this disconnect, focusing on our pleasures is one way to upend the narrative. Because of the disconnect that already exists for so many of us and because of the constant push to hustle, we often do not have time set aside to focus on what actually feels good. Though pleasure is a human right, we often become out of practice with it. Much like any skill, like playing an instrument or learning how to use a machine, having hands-on experience and practice can help keep us connected to it. Not for the purposes of perfection, but for the practice itself.
By creating a space, a community where we can feel supported and validated in expressing ourselves, we can become more connected to our bodies, emotions, and pleasures.
What is the Pleasure Pratice?
The Pleasure Practice is dedicated time to explore, discuss, and expose what pleasure means to us, while also helping us fill our tool boxes to continue this practice after the workshops end.
Lead by Goddess Cecilia, the Pleasure Practice is open to Women, Femmes, and Folks of Color who are comfortable in Women-centered spaces as well as their Accomplices. As there are many ways to practice pleasure, the Pleasure Practice takes a variety of forms. In the Workshop, we discuss a variety of ways that pleasure can manifest, helping the participants to craft a pleasure tool box for themselves. During monthly gatherings, we spend some time cheering each other’s pleasure over some nourishment. If you are a Patreon, then you also get access to Goddess Cecilia’s What’s App for any check ins, cheering you on, or quick questions.
